Let me see which set of sheds shall I rattle with today.Troy could use a different matched set for every day of the hunting season and still not use them all!
I like the sound of real antlers better,but rarely carry them because they are a pain in the a$$ to carry.I have a pack on my back now most of the time,so it is more likely that I will be carrying real ones more often.
I don't rattle at home in NYS,I only rattle in Troy's part of the country.I have rattled bucks in with both real antlers and a rattle bag.

I usualy use real horns, sometimes Ill use a rattle bag if I dont wanna pack in the horns. In my opinion the more realistic you can be the better, when your calling deer. I try to do most of my rattling on the ground so I can stomp my feet, rake leaves, all the noises deer associate with two bucks fighting. It does work in a tree but if a deer is close enough to hear where your at its not too realistic trying to imitate to deer fighting in a tree.

but yes, im a real antler guy...would like to find a bigger set than that set i have now....better go shed huntin here the next couple days huh?? my set is pretty small...but, ive rattled in atleast 1 buck with them..first time i gave it an honest try. the next morning i killed my first bowkill buck and saw a couple deer and 1 other buck for sure besides the one i killed...dont know for sure they came into rattling..but i called off and on that morning.

love hunting deer by calling...exciting and seems pretty effective on non pressured deer! seemed to happen just like on TV both days i called...it was EARLY too..oct 12 evening and 13th morning. deer just dont see bowhunters and pressure till rifle season really...pumped for next year...even if i tag mine i will go and video and call for a buddy...might never call a bruiser in that early...but its nice seeing deer...

kinda a catch 22 for me. i realize most probably use one or the other and stick to it but i use real and a rattle bag however i use the bag more often so i voted for it.

i used to use real antlers, but the rack was only about a 110 incher, which I called deer in with, but they were a pain in the neck, so I got a rattle bag, but it was the only one that had the right sound for me. Hunter specialties one I believe. check out the scorecard on the contest forum... it works;)
