Well, when Im hunting, my goal is to have a good time and to kill an animal. Whether I do it with a muzzle loader, shotgun, or my bow all the animals I get are meaningful to me. I have yet to put a good buck on the wall so if I was out gun hunting that day and that Booner stepped out, you bet your last dollar Id shoot him! Im a bowhunter at heart and I prefer that over all but I wont refuse one of Gods gifts if he happens to offer it while Im holding a gun.

If you shoot a compound and you refuse to shoot a B&C with a gun then I suggest that you try the following.......

Put down your compound and take a B&C with an osage stick bow with cedar shafts with flint broadheads wrapped in sinew....

Take technology away and do it like the indians....

Some of you who answered no, well....hunting the deer with a rifle wasn't the question, shooting it was.I'm assuming you are already rifle hunting, and then you get the chance at the B&C, you still don't shoot??? I would shoot, no question about it.
BBM, I think you MIGHT be one of the few to answer the questioninthe dimensionIalso intended to ask it but didn't. That's nobody's fault but mine. Part of what I meant was that if you were mainly(99 percent) a devout bowhunter but just participating in a group gun hunt for sake of festivity, would you take out a booner? I feel that I wouldn't.

When I said that I refuse to shoot a booner with a gun, I meant that due to the value system Iput in place for a Booner, I wouldn't set out gun in hand to bring home that kind of trophy. In my particular case, I know where one lives and refuse to go after him with a gun. If he's not riding in my truck courtesy of anarrow, he's not riding.

You wouldn't serve the president of the United States something you didn't feel was the best right? See, that's all I'm saying. As an aside, I know some of you guys might like to feed the current pres your version of "the best" but that's another thread.

nice one, Michigan. I agree. I would shoot it in a heartbeat and enjoy every bit of it. I started bowhunting to get in more hunting besides gun season. Ended up loving bowhunting and didn't gun hunt for about 5 years. A few years back I was invited on a late season doe harvest and had forgot how much I enjoyed gun hunting. Yes, it seems easy and it probably is. But the truth is bow hunting with a compound isn't hard. I've taken deer every year since I started bow hunting. Gee, the Indians did it without cams, releases, sights, 350 fps bows, drop away rests, etc., etc., etc. And we want to act like we are some hunting god because we take a deer with a compound. Yes, I'm laughing at myself here, too. I truly respect people like Fred Bear, Howard Hill, Paul Shafer. I don't hunt with my recurve because I don't haven't put in the time to become proficient enough to be confident of a clean kill. But I enjoy HUNTING and spending time in the woods. I love guns. I love bows. Its all a blast.

I think you might've missed the point altogether. I'd choose to take one with my compound because it is"my" preferred weapon whendeciding between the .270 or the Vectrix. I think you think that because of that, I should just go after a booner with the most primitive method. If that were the case and my intention, then I should just grab my pocket knife and attempt a "chase-and-stab".

B&C is more firearm related, as P&Y is more bow related, personally, shooting an animal with a bow that qualifies for P&Y vs a gun kill that qualifies for B&C, to me I'm more impressed by the booner, personally I dont want to shoot a Pope n young with a boy, i want a booner with a bow, in my one magazine i get it listed the p&y entries, and I think? who cares? just about anythign qualifies for p&y, b&c is in a class above IMO.

So when i research an area, i really can care less how many pny entries there are, i wanna know booners.

I primarily bowhunt but I also gunhunt. If I had a chance to smoke a B&C while gunhunting, even though I would prefer to kill him with archery equipment, I would take him with my firearm. It may be the only chance I ever get at a B&C and I'm not going to pass it up.

No problem for me deciding this one for me, I don't own any guns, so below is what I use. I take everything I hunt by Bow. Maybe when I am older or something I'll get a gun. To much fun with a bow...
