Exercises for bowhunting

I am interested in hearing what everyone does for exercises to get ready for bow season.

I did 3mi. on the treadmill this morning. I do a five min. warm up walk in which I do "can" exercises (3lb.hand weights)to strengthen my small shoulder muscles. Probably helps my balance, too....doing these while I am walking.

I'll do this 4-5 times a week.

I use the therapy bands from Walmart and the kit has one that is perfect for practicing
a Pull. The kit comes with instructions for exercises.
I am down 26 lbs since Jan 3rd btw. Working out at the health club also, its all about calories.
Good Luck.

Other than lifting weights to keep your muscles in shape.....I think cardio is the key. That and just plain old shooting.

I agree. I run 3 times a week, lift 3-4, and once I get my strings on, I'll try to shoot at least 2-3 times a week. I've switched up my lifting routine to have a day concentrating on just back and shoulders and man it's definitely working (pretty sore lately). I feel these will hopefully help my stamina as well as strengthen some of my back tension muscles.

Right now I am running 2.5mi Mon/Wed/Fri outside with hills. (Started sprinting the hills which SUCKS!:D)
Then strength training Tues, Thursday for about 45 minutes.(push-ups, pull ups, curls, dips, abs, heavy bag etc etc)
I take off the weekends but keep a pretty strict diet.
Start over on Monday.
The Mountain Bike is getting an overhaul as well to start hitting the trails on some weekends with a little less impact on the knees.
Can't wait to start some swimming too! Yeehaw! Cannonball!![8D]

Since I have two small kids that keep me busy, I try to run around with them at the playground, while occasionally doing sets of pull-ups and dips. I just basically act like a kid myself and it seems to be helping because I am in better shape recently..I also keep two 25 lb dumbells right by my night stand, so I can just grab them and workout when I have the time/energy. Sounds funny, but with my work schedule and my kids, I have to squeeze 3-4 small workouts in each week for a couple hundred reps of shoulder presses, lunges, etc.
