Who knows what year the compound bow was introduced??? Without looking it up!!! Guess or lay the facts down. I will post the answer in a bit.

They were out in "77" because thats when I started. Alot of guys still had recurves then. I bought a new American Archery Cheetah. I wore a groove in our lawn walking back and forth retreiving arrows! My offical guess is "73"

I believe it was pantented in 1969.

I've got an Orignal Allen Compound of my dads.. believe they started making them in 68 or 69... his is an early 70's model..

Patented in 1968 by Hollis Allen. Then Jennings jumped on the idea and started producing compounds in violation of the patent. Story is that Allen was killed in a car wreck while driving to the court hearing on the suit he filed to protect his patent. Jennings was pretty unpopular for a long time over that.
