I just got my rocket sidewinders in. is it necessary to shoot one before huntin with them? I don' t won' t to bend a ferell, or damage my new heads, but at the same time, I' m a little leary of huntin with these things, before I know for sure their gonna shoot like my field points.
BTW- kinda like the new stuff

bogobble, take a small wire tie like the kind on a loaf of bread, use it to keep your blades from opening and fire away. I' ve done this several times playing around with expandables.

you really need to shoot them first. You can tie off the blades and shoot into really soft foam, or just buy replacement blades. I have found them to shoot like field points, but every setup is different and what works for me may not for you.

I shoot my Rockets into cardboard boxes stuffed with rags or 1 inch insulation board. It doesn' t ruin the head or the blades. I resharpen them before I hunt with them. They have shot exactly like field tips.

there is only one way to be sure they are flying the same as field points, shoot em' .i was in a hunting camp last year that had the block.i could shoot the sidewinder into it without it opening.just roll 2 rubber bands all the way up on the blades.you' re gonna love the hole these things leave!
