I want to hear the ground hog story! Were you in a foot race with a momma gopher?

The early bird gets the worm!! Set the alarm loud and get up when it goes off, don't doze off and then be late getting to the stand and have a 150in buck come right under your stand when your only a third of the way up.

Well, it ended up as a race, didnt start as one. It was early season, I was putting corn out at one of my trail cam locations at an island in the middle of a bean field. As I was walking along the edgeof the island, she came tearing out of some brush and stared in on my leg/ankle. I kicked her off and started backing up quickly to see what her next move was. She came right back at me, I turned and started to trot away thinkin she would stop after a few yards. Nope, she was on my heals so I picked up the pace laughing my $#% off for probably 40 yards. I finally dumped the corn bag and prepared for battle. I think me dropping the bag scared her and ended her chase, she wobbled back to the island all proud of herself lol. I snuck back there the next afternoon and saw she had little ones.

When you are going to a stand that you have in mind an that little voice in the back of your head says, no go to this stand. Well, listen to it.

Get in the woods early and be patient. Saw deer 100% of the time.

I'd second this for me since I found myself logging some serious hours this year (more than any year before). I saw deer 95% of the sits, one doe harvest, but ZERO shot opps on a legal buck. Really odd year for me, and it has me rethinking some of my tactics. To go along with that, I need to plan entry/exit routes better, and resist the urge to hunt a "good" spot that doesn't have a good entry and exit route. Wait...was that more than one thing?
Exactly, almost down to the word. Well put Matt. The only difference between our seasons in a nutshell is that I saw some legal bucks but was waiting for a 3.5 year old.

Hahaha! That's ridiculous, and thank you for making my night with that story.
