If you could take back one thing you did this past season, what would it be?? I can't think of anything, I had the best season in all my 20 years of hunting.

Wish I had gone every chance I had. Hopefully it wasn't my last season. My back surgery doesn't work I may never hunt again.

Also, I shouldn't have used the rattle bag as much (almost every sit during the rut)...I'm giving up on that in MN. I think the small bucks I saw were on their way to my stand anywayAnd I saw the big ones when i didn't rattle. Live and learn.

I did have a lot of luck grunting this year though.

The last week of bow season I shot, hit and had a complete pass through ofa 150 class buck and did not find him. The shot was in the middle of thefront shoulder. I think IfI would have helda second or two longer for him to move out from behind a small treeI could have got the heart. But he was about to bolt and I thought it was a good shot so I let it go and the rest is pure disapointment. :(

OK....If I could....I'd stay home on some of the hot days I hunted. THAT would have taken care of a few issues.

Sitting in freezing rain for an entire morning freezing my @$$ off when I could have come out at noon and wouldn't have missed seeing a thing and still would have gotten my buck!

I would also take back the weekends I spent doing anything other than scouting and hunting!

Thanks guys. Three level fusion on March 5th. Just found out last Friday and it started feaking me out a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle bit the last couple days.

I definitely have an answer:

Keep in mind; I did not get a deer with my bow this season. (My first season)

After drawing back on a doe that was probably 15 yards away, I "tinged" my bow on the stand. Of course, she ran........ even after grunt calls from LKNCHOPPERS..... she was gone to not return....

"oh no....i HAD this one."


I would definitely take that back....if in any way possible.:(

first season...NOT GOING TO GRUNT when a nice 10 is on its way already...i did it too many times because i was excited and wanted him to come in quick, but he just stopped and circled around:(TRIM branches ABOVE MY HEAD!!! HUGE 12 RIGHT under my stand..pulled the bow back and TAP ..hit a tiny branch but it sounded like a bomb going off in the silent woods:(

not muffed up the shot opening morning!!!!!

opening morning, pretty early..like 8am tops...movement in the thicket...DEER...BUCK!! stand...steps out of the thicket...legal 2.5yo 8pt!!! GO TIME!!! he took a few steps behind some trees..DRAW!! was drawing back and remember thinking MAN this is REALLY gunna happen here and now! slam dunk 15yd shot slightly quartering away, close leg extended forward...hit full draw and watched my arrow balance on my riser!!!!! in the heat of the moment, i stood up and drew back in seconds...i never put my arrow on the rest!! i lay my bow down on its side across the front of my Viper..the arrow lays on the riser and falls between my prong rest and my riser unless i put it on the prongs....well...i didnt...he stood there...nothing i could do except hold full draw AND balance the arrow...he started to walk...i let down, renocked and watched him...milled around and gave me a perfect broadside shot, unalert...i thought it to be 25-30yds for sure..but told myself top pin or im not shooting without a range finder...i stuck to my guns...didnt even draw...

paced it off later and it was 21yds or something like that....oh well better safe than sorry...pretty sure he made it through...i didnt hear of anyone taking him and my group didnt take him...he aughta be real nice come fall!!!

would been awesome though...my buddy was right down the hill on the next farm and tagged his at like 930am...would been awesome to have a opening morning double! oh well...i got mine a few weeks later and am pleased...though smaller, im very pleased...

Wish I had waited longer before pulling back on a big buck I had under the stand on the first day of archery season. He took off and I never saw him again all season.

I could have hunted more. Basically confined from hunting anywhere but my backyard because of my eye problem(not seeing well enough to drive).

I wish i could take back all the days i spend in the same stand. I kept hunting the same stand. And I wish i would have scouted more! And I would take the two shots i took and didn't take the time to judge the distance properly.[:@] Thankfully I missed both shots and didn't get a bad hit on those deer.

Hey whitetail..I am gonna say just the opposite. I would hunt astand in the morning, get discouraged and switch spots for the afternoon. Sure enough one of my hunting buddies would see deer at the spot I left. It happened to me all season. Fianlly one day, I remained patient and got a small buck! Next year I am going to stay with my original plan for the day. I hunt on private property and we have stands all over the place, so it is easy to second guess yourself and start moving around. Especially when other guys are seeing deer.

Shouldn't have shot the yearling doe, but hey...I had a tough week and by golly, somethin was gonna die! [&:]

Shouldn't have climbed that tree that I KNEW had poison ivy vines all over it.....Ya'll ever have poison ivy behind your ears??? yeah, that pretty much sucks....But in doing so, I cleared out a KILLER early season stand for this year. ;)

Other than that, not much. My tactics were pretty solid this year.....My scent control was tedious, in fact, almost too much like work. I was so anal about scent control that to some extent, it took the fun out of hunting. BUT......130" 8pt on the wall, guess it was worth it. :D

mobow...the posion ivy story kinda made me laugh...till it brought back memories...when i was young and dad and i ran coonhounds, he always shined his light on the ground before sitting down...me being a kid, didnt know why and would sit anywhere....lesson was learned when i was covered in posion ivy head to toe...litterally! dad will still tease me about that to this day...boy it was ugly...had to get on sterioids to clear it up. behind your ears is nothing try having it............:D

I wish i was paying attention to the direction the 140" 8 point came from the morning he did. He came from a direction that i have never seen him come from before and once i heard him, it was too late. Never saw him again.

Should have gotten out of the stand I was in opening morning. The wind changed to the wrong direction and a bachelor pack came thru......never to be seen again.
