I think I may actually do the opposite.... I may buy a compound and hunt with it a little... It gets hard for me to keep regular practice with the recurve as the season drags on.....
I almost feel like I would be cheating though....

No need for popcorn.... Everyone has there own ideas of what makes the hunt... Im just not sure I could get the same enjoyment out of it as I once did... Same as rifles vs bows....

my bow is traditional compared to some of you guys! gotta brush the dust off my bow made in 2006!
really, i do see myself getting into the tradtional thing sooner or later...right now, im in college and simply dont have the time. if i go out of state to work this summer, im going to have a heck of a time getting ready to hunt with the compound after most likely not shooting for 3 months..coming back in sept gives me a month to get ready and back into the swing of things....with any luck, wherever i go will let me take my bow and target...but dont think that will work...will likely be living in a national park or federal wildlife refuge..doubt they want some redneck out there flingin arrows
but i'll certainly ask...and will certainly check to see if theres a shop or one of you guys live pretty close so i can find a place to shoot...gotta get hired first...but hopefully things pan out and i atleast get a job...i can pull the shooting together in a month im sure..just no time to keep up with a trad bow

It all boils down to confidence for me. Last year I made a pretty good effort to try and take a doe with trad gear with a max range of 15 yds. On top of that I 100% ground hunted with it. Got one shot and missed. (She ducked)
This year,I already feel I will be much more prepared to enter the woods this fall confident and accurate. Time will tell. It's too early to make a decision. One day I want to be completely ready and ONLY take my longbow afield. The next day I want to buy a new ROSS cardiac too
I will trad hunt come fall, its just a matter of what %.

Well im not as commited as some of you, But here is the deal
I started with one (recurve) back in the very late 70's, its an Indian savage, I was very green back then, never killed anything with it and have always wanted to redeam myself with it. My Dad hung on to it all these years and recently gave it back to me
Im thinking if i get my buck via compound, then ill switch to the recurve and try it on a shelia
I gotta get fixed up with some new arrows, glove and alot of practice this summer, ill probably keep it 15 yards and under, its only 45#'s.

With all the hype on speedbows nowadays, I'm going to a slowbow
, I'll be going with the Longbow this season! I'm kinda fed up and bored with the Compound, I'm looking to challenge MYSELF more this season! Same thing with the Gun season, this year will be the Flintlock with a patched Round Ball!
