OK, to answer some of the questions on this deer (all answers and more are in the article linked in the first post).
Rob, the buck was officially scored B&C by a panel of 3 scorers on 1/1/08 1 day after the mandatory 60 day drying period had elapsed. The official scores were 211 6/8" gross and 208 1/8" net. The official B&C score has been sent to the PGC and the record will be updated next time the change the books which should be in a few months. I'm surprised there hasn't been more on it as well. It toppled a record that stood for 20 years.
WesternMDHardwoods and DropTine, the buck was shot in WMU 2B which includes Allegheny County in western PA. It was shot near South Starbane Twp. I grew up outside of Pittsburgh and I have no idea where that is.
Gr8, very interesting article. I have no info on the big airport buck you mentioned, but I wouldn't doubt it. What they don't mention is that the airport is surrounded by 1,000s of acres of woods.I think they'd be wise to take up the USDA on their offer to hand the wildlife management. It sounds like they've got a program that works.
