Got my September mount back.... [UPDATED]
#63
Call me crazy but I'm just not a huge fan of the over-the-top muscle definition in a deer mount. I like to see some, but not too much. The last time I checked I've never in my life seen a deer look like that in the wild.
However its your mount and if you're happy with it, that's all that matters. Congrats again on a great buck you lucky SOB!

Like Greg said above, the definition will tone down after the hide dries completely and settles in...

Congrats on the deer. Your taxi really needs to work on his ears and his eyes though. The ears are too round and he needs to paint the inside of them(not supose to be tan looking which comes fromt he tanning process, should be a more white/fleshy color) and the eyes are to flat over the browand (appear to be)pushed out. He should build the brow back up (just a lil)and the front upper corner of the eye shouldnt be out infront of the eye so much.He needs to not fill infront of the eye and it should go up and then slope back and down to the back of the eye. I'm not a big fan of extreme muscle tone either (the shoulder more than anything is a bit extreme IMO) but I love those early capes. I've seen this form before too but I don't remember what it was and the cape wasnt so early and looked prety good cuz the muscle was toned out a bit from the longer hair. Don't mean to critisize your mount, but if you go back to the guy, which I'm guessing you will because you are happy with it, these are some suggestions that you could give him to work on to make your next mounts even better. Again congrats on a grat buck. WCL
Notice the ear shape and eye shape, granted your buck is more relaxed pose so the eye will be more relaxed but the angle up from the corner of the eye should still be closer to this.
