Easy question. How many years did you shoot the first buck to give you a shot in a season?

The mindset I grew up in was that a buck was never to be "passed" on. If you had a shot, you took it. So for umpteen seasons, I drilledthe first buck to walk by my tree and for a while ended a lot of seasons REAL early.

Also 3. This year I harvested a nearly P&Y from the stand and saw a B&C at 25yds while on the ground. Hope he isn't planning on moving out of the area.

The deer I "passed" on (bucks) were all 1.5 yr olds. I shot the first 2.5 yr old that gave me a shot opportunity.;)

How many years did you bow hunt before you saw a mature buck from stand?

Second year, missed a nice mature 8 pointer at 15 yards :(....I shot low b/c I was so nervous.

Second year. Have had only had 4 others pass by in the last 6 years, but I could not get a shot at any of them.

I have never arrowed a "mature" buck and I have bowhunted for 7 years, bowhunting only for the last 3. I shot a 2.5 year old 8 point with a 15 inch spread this year, that being my best buck. I seem to be alternating between being a big buck hunter and someone that just want to go out and hunt does/bucks without worrying about it. I can honestly say that the last 4 years I have seen many more mature bucks, but less deer overall. That I think is a good thing and that I am maturing as a hunter......15 years after I started (I am a slow learner) :D I had noone to teach me how to hunt and just walked around in the woods, reading books, and trying to apply everything I read to the woods. I missed so many chances by doing dumb things, ruining hunting areas, and just plain stunk so many times. But I can say that honestly that really instilled the love of hunting into me and all the hard work that goes into it.

I saw a huge buck my second year of bowhunting. I saw his tail several times that year.
I seen him again my 2nd 3rd and 4th year. Again lots of tail flashes.
On my 5th year I shot a buck in the 170's. Not him. I never seen him again.
Now it seems like I will kill a really nice deer 150 or better every 2.5years.
I'm already looking forward to the 2008 season.

Been 6 and haven't had one in true range, bout 60 yards was closest.
