I will hunt a rub line if it is early in the season. I wiat for the first misty overcast day before hunting it. Otherwise I stay far away. I wont hunt a scrape. most are made at night many are not revisited. Rubs and scrapes made just prior to the rut are bucks cruising around letting everyone know they are around. They are cruising. not likely to hang around. Every year around 25-26 of oct these scrapes appear all over. many have hunted them with very little success because the deer that made them is prob. miles away. once the rut starts rubs and scrapes are made because of aggression. 2 or more mature bucks in an area that holds a doe in or near heat. These are like gold!!!!!!! I work hard to find an area that is tore up. It has to be fresh. Less than12 hours. I quickly scout the area looking for a good stand site and camp out on it all day. I dont care iif its early or late in the day. I will stay with this spot for a day maybe 2.
