5 years ago I never used a back pack, now i have a full one.

I had 2 camo suits realtree@(orginal) and Advantage Timber

I now have way to much stuff, but it's been fun:D Working for Cabelas expanded my supplies;)

No. 1 - 5 years ago....did you have/utilize less gear/gadgetry in your pursuits for deer than you do, now?

No. 2 - 5 years from now....what do you predict you'll be doing (in this arena)?

Explain?

5 years from now I'll likely be chasing them with trad gear. I'd like to take a P&Y deer first before I make that move, but once I've got one of those I'll probably go exclusive w/ trad for a while at least.
x2, exactly.

5 years ago I was into the newest and fastest stuff out there, this gadget, that gadget, worried about this and that, to much goin on, I want it to be fun and simple. This year I'm going in the woods with Longbow in hand with 4 arrows in my quiver and sometimes a tree stand!;) I've turned over a new leaf and I really ENJOY it! :) I looking for more of a challenge within myself!:)

1. 5 Years ago I was hunting with my Buckmaster 2000 (I was hot stuff:D) simple prong rest, and shooting feathers (). I was also 18, not very equipment savy (far from it now), and didn't have to have the latest and greatest (mostly because I couldn't afford it).

2. 5 Years from now will find me most likely shooting competitevly, hopefull establishing more do-it-yourself tools for Archery, but most likely not becoming super "gadgety". I will be taking a camera into the field a lot more as well (need to figure out what DSLR/lens setup I want soon). I also find myself slowly gaining more interest in habitat preservation/general food plot science.

I think I will be using a good GPS unit with built in contour lines...
This is a high probability for me too; especially as I start hunting Colorado every year.

I'll also be switching arrows so that I can use Tracer nocks, or maybe now that Easton has bought the company they'll make a version that will fit A/C/C's. I enjoy the tolerances with the A/C/Cs, but I think there's other top-level offerings out there that will accomodate the Tracers, and I think that shooting them may be one of the biggest things I'm looking forward to in the near future.

Thats a good question, it made me think. In the past five years I have learned a ton, although the learning curve for the three years before that was much steeper. Despite all I have learned I still am using pretty much the same equipment...a slightly faster bow and now carbon arrown instead of aluminum, but all the basics are the same....plastic fletch, release, string loop, multi pin sight & peep, replaceable blade BH. I think I use calls somewhat less...and now I never use scents unless it is a fresh tarsal gland in the rut..I still use topos and aerial photos tho..overall I guess I am one of those who is using somewhat less gagets now, not more.

In five years...I probably will be a trad shooter, so I think that means even less gagets[&:]

Man I played with one of these in the bow shop last night. They are way cool. I can't wait till I switch back over to my hunting set-up (after indoor ends 3/3/08) To put a couple of these, on, and try'em out!

RE: 5 years ago? 5 years from now?

5 yrs ago I was only gun hunting. And I was using fairly low tech means to do it. No treestands, old lever action, hand-me-down blaze orange.

5 yrs from now...I actually think I'll be back in the "low tech" hunting. I have an old recurve I've wanted to get shooting for a couple years. I still prefer the more simple things in hunting. IMO Scent Lok/Carbon suits, fancy soaps, some of the new bow technology is almost a waste of money and a paradox of what bowhunting is to me. To me, it should be a more primitive affair. The same goes with a lot of gun hunting. Sure I love the new firearms tech and I still love shooting my guns whenever I can. But does anyone honestly need a smoke pole that can shoot out to 250 yds? What about a rifle scope that has a built in rangefinder? Simply put, No.Just MO though.
