Wanna impress me?

Ditch the backup rifle.

Now then.....I'm impressed. No takers? I think THAT would be way up there on the ethics scale. You know.....when the food chains are on a more even keel.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey BBM....I've carried a handgun with me to stand.....hunting whitetails.

I didn't do it under the guise of hunting dangrous game with a bow, though. I wasn't even hunting the animal I was hoping I didn't see.

Big difference in my book.
Thats the most contradicting thing I've ever heard.....It's ok togo hunting with a safety weapon for protection against something you may encounter, but its not ok to hunt with a safety weapon when you know you are going toencounter something dangerous and you think that person doesnt impress you.... I'm confused cuz if you ask me going after a deer and worrying about something attacking you takes alot less guts than to step into the dangerous game's element and tango with em.... Just to be clear I think ifsomeone feels the need to carry a safety weaponand isnt comfoprtablein a safetysituation it should be perfectly legal. WCL

I believe GMMAT was being sarcastic in his first statement. If you take it as that then it makes sense, but maybe Im wrong. Pretty sure he was joking though.

Yeah I can understand that, you can't really get a read on people just by reading text! Thats the bad thing about forums, text messages, email, etc!

Jeff, I wasn't intending to single anyone out, as many said that they carried while hunting, both legal and illegally.PerhapsI'm not understanding the arguement here. Its ok to carry a sidearm while hunting/hiking/fishing etc to dispatch a potential threat to you, but its not ok let a PH stop a charging rhino that you just shot with your bow? Or is the disagreement that bows should only be used for deer/elk/caribou and not something that bites back? Enlighten me here guys. With all the talk of 350fps bows and BH's that cut holes the size of pineapples, Ithink any animal on the planet is fair game.

This is not a legal issue here at all. I don't know how legal even came into this thread. Of course it's legal, and as someone said, mandatory at times. I just feel you should deal with a bad scene while bowhunting these deadly animals the best way you can, if you want tocall it a true bowhunt. If you're that afraid of getting hurt or killed, hunt with a gun!
To the best of my knowledge, if an animal has to be finished off with a firearm while bowhunting, it can't be entered in P&Y. Isn't it all about the accomplishment? It'sall about having the "eggs".

Let's look at it this way.

Guy goes into a bar. He's got Chuck Norris with him.....and he's taking **** to everyone in the bar.....trying to be the big man. He knows if trouble goes down.....he's got Chuckto bailhim out.

Another guy goes into a bar. Chuck's with him, too.....but he's minding his own business.
