My first questions is about hunting in Illinois. Anyone know of good land, state or private? I *will be* living in Madison county right across the river from St. Louis, Missouri.

Also, anyone ever try any of those 3d do it yourself camo sets? You get a set with some safety pins (at least the one I got) and some artificial leaves (100 leaves in sets of 2, 50 sets) and you peg them onto your camo clothes to eliminate the human form. Does anyone have an opinion on 3D camo itself and/or the do-it yourself method? Buying the set, by the way, cost me $11 where as the 3d camo from basspro shop (the cheapest place around me, believe it or not) would cost me about $70+

If you want something that will conceal you, get
yourself a 3D leafy suit. There is no better camo
for breaking up your outline and they can be used
in just about any terrain. I've had deer and turkey
look right through me from inside 20 yards. The head/
facemask is a must for total concealment. I even wear
it while bowhunting in southern Arizona for coues
deer...and there is nothing down there but rocks and
cactus! Don't buy the first one you see, some of the
cheaper ones I've seen don't appear to be very
durable. Look around and get one that will last. I
paid $100 seven years ago for my Underbrush and
there's not a leaf torn on the whole suit and I've
walked through plenty of multifloral rose, here
in Iowa.

The synthetic leaves you are describing are "Sneaky
Leaves". I have a netting I throw over my DB blind
and I pin these leaves to it. I put a few on my
backpack one time while turkey hunting, at the
end of the day,most were gone. The safety
pins would catch on something and the leaves would
fall off. I just think you would be better off
going with a actual 3D suit.

Thanks for the help. Your right those are sneaky leaves. Must not be very many on the market. Well, the whole suit is done up and it 'looks' pretty good. This was an attempt to save money but if I'm just gonna lose the leaves anyway, looks like it won't work. I'm probably gonna do some coyote hunting here soon, I'll give 'em a try and something that's not as important to me as deer season and see how the leaves act. As of now, I have not hunted on any terrain that would come even close to being rough enough to pull these things off, just not crowded enough brush, etc. But like I said, I'm moving. We'll see what happens.
