I got the skull Dan. I told him I needed that right away so I could get it measured for P@Y. The funny thing about this whole situation is my family and I started this guy out in taxidermy. We've known him for years so we told him we would bring him everything we got to help get his business started. His mounts are priceless, there very good. I've never had a problem with any other kind of animal when bringing it to him. Everything else I've gotten back in 6 months. This guy has mounted well over 20 mounts for my family and we've spread the good word for him to get his name out there and this is what I get out of it. He no longer gets my stuff. This is just typical with me I swear. Sometimes good guys finish last!

Man I feel for YA!! Has he got the skull also? I research my Taxidermists to the Hilt! I have to drive a ways but his reputation and the work he does for me makes it worth while. I think I'd be looking into some kind of legal avenue. He should still have your tags. Hope this works out for you!

Steve, that sucks bro! I feel your pain, only mine was with a turkey. My second turkey ever, brought it in, waited upwards of a year, went to go talk to him after no phone calls, he left. Out of buisness. Never gong to see my bird again. That is a very nice bear, I've never, ever seen a color phase in MN. Sweet! What did he score?

Really nice bear man. Makes me wish I prepared my cinnamon bear's hide properly..
Anyways, If I were you, I'd go down and have a talk with him..question him untill he at least let's ya know if he still has the bear. If not, he owes you an apology (dunno what else he could do after all this time). If he does have it, perhaps he takes your business for granted (since it seems you all arent strangers) and thinks its ok to give you the runaround? Hopefully not, but your choices are limited.

That sucks....I shot a 300 pounder in Quebec of 2006. When I got my 1000 dollar mount back from the taxi ( half life size ) the bear looked like a black squirrel...maybe pushing 125 pounds...I didn't know what to do....I hate to even look at the mount....Not because of the size but because I know its not mine

That dont sound good Steve, I would be right up front and ask him what the deal was, Its way over due. Great picture and great Bear. I made quite a few trips looking for one with a head that big.
I sure hope things work out for you.

My guess is after 8 years and he hasn't done anything with your Bear Hide he either waited too long and it went bad or he sold it to someone else....would it even be any good after 8 years?
You've done the right thing by not taking any more animals back to him to mount or have tanned,it is a shame to loose a Friendship over a Bear but if he was a honest friend he should have told you what really happened to your Bear!If you put any money down on the Bear I would ask for a refund and tell him where to "Stuff Your Bear".....if you know what I mean!
