They are beig investigated again for it Bruce, Im not the ethics police but Im just saying does someone need to kill 30 deer in year? I mean at what point does it lose its appeal, after the umteenth deer? Take 8-12 deer a year is fine, that's a lot of meat and I have taken that many before, 30 deer, year in and year out? Come on.

Well, they don't do it legally, and two, the bragging of doing this is rediculous. You don't agree??
Well this is a totally different story! If it bothers you that much turn them in! Thats alot of deer to be shooting illegaly. That would be all the more deer out there for the law abideing hunter to persue!

RE: How many is too many??

When I first started having good success hunting I had a couple of seasons where I killed 18-20 deer. Truckloads of does on DMAP and doe tags. I used the meat, shared with coworkers, gave to Hunters $ Hungry but honestly after a couple of those seasons I grew lazy. I will still kill usually 6-8-10 a sesaon but more and more I find myself saying "I don't really feel like gutting another deer today" or "I'll letthis onewalk this time, I'dlike to be home in an hour". If it's not wasted and tagged correctly I don't care but I guess for me the novelty of just "killing" a deer
wore off.But I know guys like the ones you speak of, whole families of them. It is a huge ego trip for them. What I thought was funny was when VA made crossbows legal and the whole familyrushed out to buy crossbows (5 of them, 1 actually bought a compound)so they could hunt during bow season. Out of 5 guys they shot 3 times and killed 0 deer in 2 bow seasons and then proceeded to sell their crossbows and bow. But don't forget these guys are master hunters.;) I let em' believe what they want.

Oftenbeing a good huntercan be measuredby how many deer you didn't kill.

If you are not the ethics police then what are you? Apparently you are trying to impose you "ethical kill limits" on these poachers. Yet you won't impose the actual law on them, "not snitching":eek::eek:

It's all kind of confusing if you ask me LOL.

Well Vasaid it is not legal. I doubt they have the money to process even half of those deer. I bet they waste a whole lot of them. If it is not legal that means the land where they are taking those deer from has not been checked out by a biologist and they are probably screwing up the herd for the future. Just image how many small bucks are being killed and won't be growing up around there.

How many deer taken in one year by a person is too many?? All things being equal, should someone kill 25- 30 deer a year?? Is it necessary? I know two guys that killed this amount last year. One killed 28 the other 31. All gun kills. "Do you need to kill that many??" I asked, they said, "sure do, I ain't out there to waste my time" I just don'tsee the need, no way are they eating that much.
Hows it going Vab? What ticks me off to no end is that some (not all) of these hunters that kill tons of deer in a year and up throwing out 1/2 half of it away the following year or the next because its all freezer burned! Man that bugs me! They could of just as well let someone else shoot that/them deer instead of having it go to waste or not shot them at all! I know this happens allot because people are always asking me if I want there freezer burned deer for bear baiting and I tell them no because its not legal to use wild game for baiting bear in Minnesota. One should not shoot what they cannot eat, this happens allot. There's so much venison that goes to waste you wouldn't believe it, allot of the butcher shops I get bear bait from have storage rooms for people who don't have enough freezer space. Most of the butcher shops tell me they throw most of it away because it gets freezer burned from not getting eaten. Not everyone waste there deer but Its more then you think. The butcher shops around here no longer store deer or any kind of meat for anyone because most doesn't get eaten and when it does the people come back to the butcher and complain there's something wrong with there meat, i wonder why, freezer burned food don't taste very good!

Then maybe the first step is to "snitch" on them instead of complaining about it here. Complaining here accomplishs what?
