Ok with all the "mature" deer posts and such floating around, I have a question.............how old do you think the buck in this picture is and would you kill him or wait a year or two?

The real question is...is he Mature? Sorry..lol

In the area I hunt that would probably be a 1 1/2 year old, (maybe a small 2 1/2 year old) but deer will vary in size depending on the geographic location and food sources.

You need to look at his body proportions.............

2.5 yrs

to me his body looks like a 3.5 yr old, but his antlers make me think he is 2.5.

By the 2nd Picture he looks to be a definite 2 1/2 year old buck. I would wait 2 more years for him to mature.

What was the date on the pic? His tarsal's don't look that dark, so I would say it was taken in mid October before his neck started to swell. To me his body looks to be a 3.5 yr old deer, if it is mid October.

That's a shooter for me where I'm at. He's gotta be 3.5 because of the size of his a$$. He looks strong and wide, and his neck is rather large. The rack looks like a 2.5er but maybe the nutrients he consumed all went into making him healthier and less into increasing the size of his antlers.
