One nice thing about a rookie killing a P&Y is that more than likely he will be a hunter for life now.

Unless he takes THE BUCK I am after, I couldn't be happier for him.

Let's see how smart you are, Fraley.

Let's say that Rob/PA; Matt/PA and Atlasmanwere hunting GregH's woods for their entire hunting lives......same access Greg has had. How many P&Y bucks do you think they'd have to their respective credits?

Now.....what's the difference.....besides "location"?

Being a rookie bowhunter, I would have to say it wouldn't bother me in the least.

Let me share a story. A Bowhunter (I use that term loosely) hunted not too far from me. He was always whining and trying to figure out why he couldn't even kill a Doe, No Lie!! He was fairly wealthy and some buddies (I use that term loosely also) talked him into leasing some ground in the Dog Town Hills. If you know anything about this area you know what a great area is. Now maybe he took Bowhunter classes in the offseason, but anyway He became a P&Y killer not one year, not 2, but every year he had that lease. Henolonger lives around here. I hope where ever he moved to he found a good lease.

If he did I'm sure he is still a Heck of a Bowhunter[8D]

I've killed my share of animals and my fair share of trophies, but I have been blessed and have put my time in. Hunting is not Rocket Science. Some want you to think so:eek:

I think its great for young hunters to connect on big deer. I dont think there is a better way to get a youngster hooked on hunting. Yeah, sure some people get disgusted when a begginer out does them. I just chalk it up to begginers luck. On the other hand there are times when its not begginers luck. Take the Tony Luvesten buck, forgive my spelling if its wrong. His father, uncle and who ever else had been watching and triing to pattern that buck for a couple of years from what I hear. It just so happened right before the regular season that buck would disapear every time. Theywere lucky enoughto have a youngster that was able to go on the early muzzle loader season before the buck dissapeared. Yeah was he lucky that he got the buck, of course. On the other hand it seems like they used the kid to get credit for the deer. Just one of those stories that seems a little on the shady side to me.

Ok, most of you guys have seen pics of my bucks and here recently of my family members bucks as well as friends. I can tell you this, almost all of these bucks came fromone chunk of land or within a mile or so of each other. You can ride one county over and not find a buck anywhere close to the ones we have killed over the past 30 yrs at our farm. Location is a big thing, deer are attracted to certain areas and the genetics of those areas certainly help. Now, GregH has some great land and he wouldn't be able to shoot those deer if they weren't there, Greg has enough sense to obtain those places, he is not a rookie. He is fortunate and skillful at the same time, as well as I have been very lucky and skillful to kill the bucks that I have killed. I agree, if you put Rob, or Matt, or GMATT in my property, they would close the deal on a good buck for sure, and so would GregH, same as if you put most of us on Greg's property, I don't think our ability as hunters is the question, the post was supposed to address the "beginner's luck syndrome" vs. season veterans taking big bucks and who is bothered by rookies killing the big boys in their first year.
