RE: The last hoorah for Illinois bow season
I'm heading back out Thursday night to hunt Friday-Sunday.
So far this season has been dissapointing, one doe early in November. Missed my first and only opportunity for a Turkey a month ago and missed an easy shot at a doe two weeks ago. I guess thats why its called bowhunting and not bowharvesting!
We do get one more antlerless only weekend with the gun, at this point I am not being choosy at all.
Good Hunting,
Bowflex

Usually this is the time I'm gearing up for the last gun hunt of the year (pistol) but since Illinois has started letting us use a pistol in the other seasons, I don't have to worry about freezing my nuggets off with an all day sit in the middle of January. I'll probably get out a few more times and tryfor a couple more does as my buck tags are filled.

Well boys and girls, I hunted all weekend and came home empty handed. I did miss a doe sunday morning, first miss of the season and thats what I ended my season on. My wife on the other hand had an awsome end to her first ever hunting season. She shot this buck at 30yards in one of our food plots and I got to watch the whole thing unfold from about 100yards away, it was great. To be honest I think I was shaking just as bad if not worse than she was. My dad had actualy laid eyes on this buck the first evening of the second gun season. We hadnt seen him since but we sure saw him last night. Call it begginers luck but she made and awsome shot and the buck didnt go 60 yards.

I will be out tomorrow a.m. and thurs. a.m. I passed on going tonight to go catch a few Crappies. Luckily the fish were on. My business partner and I caught 16 total and Icaught my personal best, one that went 2.4 lbs . We will be having fresh Crappie fillets tomorrow. Now, if I can just catch up with a buck over these next two mornings, life would be GREAT! Good luck to all of you that are still at it.
