I've hunted deer in the snow. What does that have to do with the legality of baiting? I've hunted deer on my own land also. Again, what does that have to do with the legality of baiting? Just asking...?

And one qestion for Germ. Are the total deer numbers going up or down in MI?

Can anyone tell me a state where the deer numbers are actually decreasing?

I've never questioned the legality of baiting, its always been illegal here in PA.

If you go back several pages you well see where I question the dexterity of those who say they bait-feed all winterin to equal the effects of planting a crop that bennifits wildlife during the time frame thatwe do not try to kill them..

Jim,

I'm not sure what you are trying to say? There are regions within the US where crops will out perform feeders, but there are those regions where feeders will out perform crops.

In Texas for example, the winter months can be just as brutal as states covered in snow. With the absence of moisture, that region's wildlife has nothing to eat. Texans use feeders year round to sustain their wildlife (not restricted to just deer). Sure, wildlifegrabs whateverit can wherever and whenever it can get it, but without supplemental feeding much would die.

Here's a pretty cool link. It appears the deer population for Pennsylvania is twice that of the winter carrying capacity:

It also appears the deer population in that state seems to be on the rise.
