Default Would it wear your tag?

You are on an out of state hunt with a $400 non resident deer tag on your back. You shoot a buck an hour and a half before last light. After waiting an hour you begin to blood trail it and you kick the buck up from being bedded. You back out so not to push it any further and make the decision to resume your search in the morning.
Your there at first light and you find it within a half hour, that's the good news, the bad news is that there is hardly any thing left of the buck.Predators have left nothing but it's head, shins, hooves and skeletal structure.
You are hunting in an extremely remote area and no one else is aware of your shooting this animal.
Does your tag go on it?

Absolutely my tag will go on it.

My buddy had this happen to him earlier this fall.....he tagged it and brought it to the DNR office and they gave him another tag.

I killed it, or at least shot it, I own it once recovered!

That is the exact reason I will not hunt out of state and pay 400 bucks for a tag[]. I like hunting deer but not that much.

Yes, tag it. I bought a tag for permission to kill one of whatever animal it is. I killed one. I tag that one.

The fact you are in a remote area should have no bearing on the decision.
