Know you can dedicate more time to scoring some team points.

I have some old doe here that would be hard to kill with a rifle.(not that theres any thing wrong with that)They do have a great memory for trouble spots.

I just have no need to kill them, as I feel they carry that bucks genes that I do so enjoy hunting.

I'm just old.

I never shoot does with my bow, but I do like doe hunting.I always buy a doe tag and save it for rifle season. Really, that's the only time that I getto actually hunt with other people. I really don't even want to geta doe(if that makes any sense) - I'd much rather chase one out to someone else and let them get it. But, if I see one and the shot iswhat I'm looking for...I oblige.

I love it when the area I hunt gives out management tags. I then usually will try and take an older looking or a bigger looking doe that has no fawns with her. I figure if she has no fawns with her she's a good one to get rid of (thinking maybe she's to old). I get pretty worked up when i know i'm going to shoot a doe, i've shot alot of doe's and to this day i still get just as excited as my first one! When i loose that excitement its time to quit hunting!I tell you what though that some of these old doe's are on the ball big time! This year I seen some of the biggest doe's ever, not one of themhad a fawn with them, they were by far the smartest whitetail's i've seen yet. If I was going to shoot them that night it would of been real tough, they had me picked out in no time 18 feet up in a tree. I shot my big 8 from the same stand1 day later and he didn't have a clue I was there.

I shoot only mature bucksbut try to shoot a half dozen does each season. The family will use that many ( teenagers to feed and a dad who cant get out any more) and I am involved in a deer control program where it's good management to kill that many.

Oh, and I love trying to outwit those old matriarch does. A mature buck will get careless during the rut. A mature doe never gets careless!

I enjoy shooting does, though it's rare anymore that I have the opportunity. Being allowed only one deer per year means that I generally hold onto my tag until the bitter end before I consider shooting a doe.

In most parts of Wis we are now forced to shoot does.

I have killed 8 deer this year, 7 have been does...

Why do I look at it as "necessary"...I hunt my own land, 850 acres, and we farm...So far we have killed 37 deer off these farms this year...When you raise soybeans, corn, wheat and peanuts you see how much deer can eat...I also eat deer, if I didn't eat deer, don't really know if I would kill them....
