Dude, I had my knee scoped couple years ago. I was dove hunting in a corn field the next day, and bow hunting a week later.

Sorry you gotta do it, but best of luck on the recovery.

Comon bigtim, man up. [8D] I have heard, and correct me that you can walk very shortly after a knee surgery. My mom's husband is getting both his knees done and said similiar to that.

And here's a picture for ya.

Yeah Sally a little torn knee cartilage is the athletic equivalent of spraining an eyelash. LOL I tore my left knee up pivoting in a wet batters box one day, and 2 weeks after surgery I was legging out doubles off the wall.

You'll end up with a 3 tiny little incisions that heal in a week and a little ache for a few days. Trust me spraining your ankle badly is worse than scoping for a few ragged edges of torn cartilage.

From what these guys all said Tim you should be in good shape by no time! Hang in there and do what the doc says and you'll be fine! Good luck!

Not being malicious at all, bigtim, but I like what I see in these posts.
I blew out my knee the other day dragging a buck off the hill and have been on crutches ever since. I'll be seeing an orthopedic surgeon in a couple days. Heck, if it's only as bad as a sprained eyelash, we're both laughing.

I had a reconstructive surgeryon my ACL added 2 screws and was getting around without crutches in 2 weeks. A few years later same knee hadto scope the MCL and the next day walked all over Chicago. I suggest taking your time and let the swelling go away before being very active.

Don't go with any doctor, Get a doctor that specializes in sports injuries!! I had one of the best doctors in Nashville who works with the olympic gymnist and several pro football teams.

That's the best piece of advice on this thread. Also, don't be real anxious to get it done just because you are hobbling around right now. Surgeons get paid to do surgery.

Last fall, I hurt my knee playing basketball. The knee was swollen and hurt pretty good. I had an MRI a week or so later and went to the ortho surgeon a week after that. It ended up being a slight tear in the cartilage and the doc wants to scope the knee. I tell him that I'll get back to him to schedule the surgery even though I'm hobbling around. A couple weeks go by and the swelling starts to go down with the help of Advil. My range of motion starts getting better, so I figure I'll put the scope off for another little bit to see how this plays out. A couple weeks after that, the knee was almost 100%and I never let anyone poke a hole in me. Now it's a year later and I can't tell it ever happened.

Food for thought.
