if i factor in ANYthing and everything bowhunting related...well....lets just say i wouldnt wanna pay per deer or by the pound lol...lets just say i could probably went and shot a monster buck on some guided or canned hunt for what i paid for only taking 1 deer with a bow thus far...
plus time...im worth ATLEAST 10$ an hour..2.5 years of college now, im worth more than that to most employers...man i dont wanna know lol....

To be honest, I really don't even wanna know.......gas/plots/farm equipment/archery toys/stands/taxes/clothing/beer for camp...............it all ='s more than I really want to think. I only have one deer in the freezer right now. I could have eaten at Shula's Steakhouse every day for the entire year and paid less I think.

If you gotta ask you can't afford it.
And if your wife finds out the true cost it will all become a moot point because she will garage sale all of your hunting stuff.[

With out gas truck and 4 wheeler and with the 5 deer I killed this year I am at 5.10 a pound... If you factor in gas and 4 wheeler and truck and time, its rediculous...

I was joking on the figure.....but if I sat down and figured it out.....I'd sell my gear, move to Palm Springs.....and live EXTREMELY LARGE.
It's pushing $20/lb......if I'm honest.

Now wait a second..You can't really do that can you? I mean sure you can put a number on anything but if you broke it down by enjoyment dollars.
I am comparatively speaking you and your wife go to a movie.
Tickets $20 (?)
Popcorn/drinks $20
Gas 10$
baby-sitter $20
Clothes $100
Shoes $80

$250 for what .....1 hr 55 minutes of entertainment for 2
Not counting vehicle wear and tear..the gas and electricity to heat your house while your gone etc etc
We don't put everyday life into this type of scrutiny so how can you put killing a deer under this microscope?
How many hrs of entertainment did your hunting dollars provide?

I actually put together a number a while back. I took the number of deer with the average amount of meat over a given time and broke down the cost to hunt over the same time frame. At the time, gas was cheap, I had an old bow that was only $200 new, I had the same arrows for several years, got broadheads on clearance, had no fancy expensive rain gear or bow accessories and was shooting several deer a year. It was very economical. I also had a good success ratio, meaning less gas burned back and forth to hunt.
Now if I calculated things out this year, with only 3 deer down, over 150 Hrs in stand meaning several hundred $ a month for gas, negative PTO (docked pay), many more gadgets and nicer gear, plus a NR license to boot. Well we’ll just keep that number unknown so I don’t jump from a bridge.
