I have a hip quiver that holds 8 arrows. 2 of which have practice heads on them.

usually I have 3 arrows w/ good bh's on and 1 older arrow w/ a used bh for squirrels or finishing shot if required.

I take three with my compound. My recurves, I have one in the bow and another in my hand. Only take two.

3 - You can only kill two a day in Ohio, so actually the third arrow is overkill. Make one shot count! If I need more than 3, I really need to be shooting at a target instead of sitting in a tree.

My quiver holds 4. I have shot ONE deer with two arrows, once. ONE deer with 3 arrows, once. And I shot at my 11/6/07 buck with all 4....hitting him 3 times.

I shoot until they are out of range or dead.

It differs for me depending on thebow.This year I'm shooting aMathews and it has a 5 arrow quiver, so that's how many I take with me.
