Default Fred Bear videos

I was just sitting here watch the snow build up while my brownies cook. Anyway, BassProShop was highlighting and showing a lot of the old Fred Bear original movies he made. I mean, what a joy. I grew up watching them and was just entrawled with them. When it was over I ask myself what made them so great and it hit me. It was done in an educational way with the love for nature and the fair chase hunt the highlight. It wasn't about the hunter. There were no people trying to be a comedian, no high fives, no "Smackdown", no in your face crap that's designed to say..."Look at me... look at me", no PC statements or catchy buss words. Is there any wonder we loved them so much. When Bass Pro makes these films available to the general public their stock will take a big jump. I don't care what they charge, they'll sell.

I agree his videos are a lot more interesting then what we got on tv now. His love for the outdoors really showed. He just went out there in his hat and his flannel shirt with his stick and string and showed us how to really do it the right way.

I always try and watch jim shockey's stupid show, whatever its called. Just for the chance to see people like Bear, Hill and others when they do there short clips on hunts from the past. I love watching them. Then I turn his show off.

You never saw Fred Bear pushing his Scentlok suit, Bad Boy Buggy, Buck Roar calls, Code Blue Standing Estrus Scent, Block 4x4 target, Realtree Camo, Cuddeback camera, or any other product.

That's what has ruined hunting vidoes. The SELLING!!! It's one big commercial, under the guise of hunting. The whole thing is designed to sell product.

You don't notice how bad it is until you watch a Fred Bear video and see how it used to be. That's what I notice more than anything - the LACK of product pushing. It's very refreshing.....

I was lucky growing up and got to watch some of the films at the museum in Grayling befor they were ever cut for TV, sometimes Fred would stop the film and explain or tell something funny that happened. I think my favorite is where he shot his world record and the Bear ran stright at the camera man and he took off running while the film was still running, nothing but a blur! I have that tape but the blur is cut out of it.
Dont know if you have seen it or not but the Pope & Young club has a film of Art Young walking across Alaska, you would get a kick out of it, This is the film Fred Bear seen in a theater and influenced him to be a bowhunter. Just like Fred did to hunters in our age group.

Your right, I would love to see someone make a set of DVD's Of Art Young, Howard Hill, Fred Bear and a few of the others and call it something like The Legends of Bowhunting, I know I would have a set!!

Agreed dmil, and in photos I like to make the photos about the deer and not the hunter either. I've seen many of the Fred Bear highlights and agreed, it's about education and promotion of archery and what was thought of as norm, might be considered nonPC today. I like Drury's video's for what they are but I'm very sick of "harvested"....if they refuse to use "kill" they can always say "downed", "Tagged", "shot", "arrowed", etc..

Anyhow, Fred Bear was and is our pioneer.
