Me case es su casa (or something like that...lol).

While I'm not sure I could afford to have an artist paint my wall.....I have always wanted to have a wall painted like the Green Monster in Fenway. I "think" I could do it, myself.....though I've never attempted anything like that.

I will have one wall that's hunting-related, at least. The theme will be "outdoors", predominantly.

Budget is +/- $6K. This includes totally redoing a bathroom down there. $1,500 for bathroom fixtures....maybe another $3-$400 in labor in there. I'll be doing all of the framing, myself. Ifigure wood and drywall materials at around$6-$700. I
d also like to buy a flatscreen with that budget....but that leaves the ceiling and flooring aspossibly the deal-breakers.

I love Chris's idea of cork.....but I don't know if my budget will allow it. I may have to up my budget, too....;).

Find a rundown barn close to home. Offer to remove the barn for the wood there. Many farmers will be more than happy to give it to you. It costs very little but sweat equity. Then there is the time involved in cleaning the wood up, but low cost with fantastic look at the end. You can do the whole room within your budget and make it look like it cost a fortune.

used barn wood looks good, we have fitted out an office with old ceder before and it came up really good

I just had a heluuva idea.

If I could find some old plank (from an old barn/outbuilding/smokehouse.....I could furr out one wall and "panel" that wall with the planks. THAT could be the wall I put my mounts on.

Nah Tony....not like that at all. There's a kitchen and dining room remodel in all of this, too;). "My" portion of the project is the "leftover" budget.

Although I make the rules around here......mama has 1/2 the money and......well....you know;).

Take down barn siding, sand it, and then stain it. What you end up with is some of the nicest wood to make walls with that I have ever seen. Take the beams and have them cut into boards. Sand them and stain them and presto chango you get the same result, some of the nicest wood for building bookshelves that I have ever seen. Or just a cleaner on the siding boards and then seal them with polyurethane, once again great looking wood!

Also, go ahead and put your ceiling in (not a dropdown though).Insulate theunderside of the floor joists and put your wood or drywall ceiling up.
Use low voltage lighting behind a soffit along the ceiling and you have great lighting for movies.
