Because people want instant results and will pay big bucks (no pun)just to put a deer on the wall at any cost. It really doesn't matter anymore, I can see that I have some support but not all see it the way I do, that is fine, we live in a country where it is good to do this. It's kinda of like the bodybuilder.. (I used to be one years ago) I did it all natural and saw results fairly quickly b/c of good genetics, however, there were guys in the gym that had no genetics, no work ethic, and no patience, so, guess what they did?? You guessed it, 2 cycles of Deccadurabolin and bam!! Huge within 2 months. What did they accomplish?? Squat in my book, they took the easy road. Just like many of the guys on TV hunts.. Remember Robert Frost... "two roads diverge in a yellow woods"....nevermind, point is, do it your way and some of us will do it our way and walk away with our dignity.

Of course. People still are not understanding me. All Im saying is, is that the hunter's shooting these deer are not great hunters in my opinion. They displayed one skill, shooting. Nothing else.
I can't argue you on that one. Never said they were nor did I believe they were. I don't believe they ever claimed to be either. And in your first post you surely didn't imply anything that simple.

Ok, well so if they put in 5 days of hunting and then kill a buck that goes 180 they still are good hunters? What about the bulk of hunters that put in a lifetime before they kill that kind of buck.
What about the people that kill these state record bucks that are clueless and were simply in the right place at the right time? Purely dumb luck in most cases. Are they better hunters simply because they didn't pay a bunch of money to go to a ranch? Not in my eyes, they just have less money.

I don't consider a 2,000 acre ranch "canned" hunting either. So I guess it boils down to how you feel about something.

Call it what you want.. its all opinion.. IMO that is killing, not hunting. If that makes them happy then so be it. I'm not aloud to hunt with a rifle here in SW MI and I will never in my life kill a deer with a rifle. The thought of watching any hunting show where the animal is 200yds plus is just not my cup of tea. I hate shows where the hunter and guide are like "OH I GOT HIM ON THE RANGE FINDER AT 400YDS.... WAIT WAIT THATS JUST A LITTLE TO FAR, WAIT TILL HE COMES TO 350 ....AS THEY TALK OUTLOUD!!!" [:@]

Much of hunting is luck Paul, but you have to put yourself in a position to get lucky. Yes, a blind squirrel does find a nut. Can ask you something? Have you been on a guided hunt? I have not, I know several who have and have told me what it was like, some good some not. I just feel like you have got the wrong idea about what Im saying. Just what is your "beef" with my statement? Not being a smart _ss, I really want to know.

Any buck killed on their property will not count as a book buck , high fence negates that , spoke to my taxidermist yesterday , this is my first year to kill a P@Y animal and Im entering it , he says I have to sign an afidavid , great Im sure I will have no problems as I was hunting free range as it gets in hard country . It makes you wounder though , how many have done it the wrong way , entering in the book , and also how many honest people have been unable to enter huge animals because of this .

I agree with Paul. I would say anything over about a thousand acres is hardly a "canned" hunt. I hunt an area where, due to development, the deer are pretty much limited to a 700 acre patch. I don't consider this "canned".
