Taz i beleive the entry fee is 25bucks anybody can correct me if im mistaken, and here you can get them officially scored by any dnr officer, or at the hunting and fishing show we have annualy most people just call a dnr officer and go to their office or have them come to their house.

"She said if I hit that fishin hole today, she's be packin all her things and she'd, be gone by noon....I'm gonna miss her, when I get home."

I've got 3, maybe 4 PY bucks on my wall but have not entered them in PY for no other really good reason than sheer laziness. I do respect their organization and agree with most of their rules. I agree with what some have said that the numbers that they keep do have some statistical value. It is a private club and if you don't like it then don't join it.

As far as the 65% letoff sub-debate, I don't think I know anyone who shoots a bow with more than 65% letoff and I certainly don't see the need for more letoff than that but that is just my very honest and humble opinion.

davidmil...poor little bambi button bucks...lol...I'm sure you've got some nice ones.

Me? - No, the only record book I'm concerned with is "My Wall", and there are a few there that would qualify. I enjoy my nounts, whatever species, for the art form they are and for the memories and goosebumbs that flashback each time I look at them.

For those of you who would want to, go for it. I'm not against the P&Y, or any other record program, I personally just don't care to take part in them.

I am like a lot of others who have replied. Only if it was at or near a state record. I have killed a couple that would have qualified, but just barely, so what is the big deal?
I have a small inner circle of hunting friends that share in my hunting accomplishments and disappointments just as I do in theirs. I have a larger circle of non hunting friends and acquaintances that do not know the difference between a 110 and a 190 nor could they care less. I bowhunt for my personal enjoyment and self imposed challenges and have no need to try to impress anyone. But hey if entering a 130 class buck into the recod books is your thing, I have no problem with that either.

Man I have to say I am imnpressed, usually no matter what the topic, there is always someone with some kind of negative comment!! I guess we should all salute each other for finding something that even though we each have a slightly differing opinion on, no one is in anyones case!!!!

Tazman,

I just sent mine in 2 days ago. They charge a $25.00 fee per entry.

If I got one that was big enough, you bet I would.

I have 2 that definitely qualify and 2 others that would be close. I didn't enter mine because at the time I was a tightwad and didn't get the required angles of the pictures taken......that is my fault!!!!

As far as the let off rule goes look at it another way, Pope and Young was established before compound bows were on the market. Why do some people knock them for their let off rule? Its the manufacturers who kept changing their letoff as the years have gone by. By the way, 65% letoff is the only way I can shoot, any more and my shooting goes to heck! For years even when the higher letoff bows were available, many if most indoor shooters opted for 50% letoff.

I have one that would make it had it not taken a header off the fridge and split in two. I wasn't planning on entering it so no biggie. Have more regrets not having a shoulder mount done as it was a picture perfect buck in my mind but the cash flow wasn't their at the time and the cape ended up freezer burning. Now I could get another cape but it wouldn't be the same.

Whether someone enters their buck or not, makes no difference to me. That's up to the individual and none of my business. I do like P&Y's scoring system and find it handy for scoring sheds or racks for my own amusement.

Well...I honestly can't say what I'd do. My first goal is to actually get a P&Y buck. Then I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there. I'd like to think yes, but as others have said...It doesn't really matter either way, I hunt for me. I do shoot a 65% let off bow, and actually like it more than the higher let off bows I've shot. I guess deep down in the back of my mind, I'm always hoping I'll have the chance at a real monster...and be able to enter him with no questions or technicalities.
The few friends I have that have P&Y qualifiers have not entered them. I'm not sure whether they just haven't taken the time to do it, or another reason. I do know they got them officially scored.
Hopefully I'll get the chance to make that decision next season!
