i live in central il and am woundering if anyone has seen any rut activity. i havent gone out yet due to work but will be out this weekend. my dad has been about everyday this past week and hasnt seen anything. ive also notcied im not seeing them in the fields on the way home like usual whats the deal?

well must just be your area, i am in west central and it is just kickin' off and nearing full rut. have seen chasing and seeking going on, including big bucks moving. you should spend a lot of time in the woods this weekend!! good luck!

I have been seeing good chasing action for nearly 2 weeks now. This morning was only the 2nd time I have hunted since Oct. 27th that I have not seen a buck chasing a doe. More mature bucks on their feet for me this year than any other.

Seems like the hard search is just starting to kick off...

i dont know what it is i live in bloomington which is pretty much dead center of il and nothing is going on. i dont have any private land to hunt only public.the buck to doe ratio hear is really bad would that have and impact. i was wondering if theres so many does that the bucks really dont have to chase or fightfor them. its easy pickens.im really hoping it heats up for me tomorrow.

sea bee77 , are hunting at dawson lake? i live in normal. i was wondering the same thing about the rut. i hunt private land outside heyworth and over in fulton county. i will be hunting my brothers land outside of heyworth this weekend. gas prices suck so i want to stay close to home. i'll be in the woods almost all weekend. good to all.

i hunt dawson but you can only hunt on mon tues because of controlled phesant hunting. so i mainly hunt clinton. have you seen any activity. ill also be out all week good luck.

It's on like donkey kong. I had a big mature buck come in after two does grunting like a hog this evening. He got a whiff of my tinks 69 and came over and I....... choked.... hit a twig. Also when I was going from my morning stand to my afternoon stand there was another big buck in the CRP field that walked straight to me and HAZCON7 and of course bolted one step away from a good shooting lane.... at TEN yards.
Aint this stuff fun, and this is only day one of my 10 day hunting vacation.
