yes should be happening right now. I killed my buck last weekend and he was rutting his head off. He was dogging a doe and grunting like crazy. Had an 8 point chasing does the day before.

Real slow in No. illinois. 40hrs. in the stand this past week and no bucks seen. plenty of does but no bucks.

went to mullberry grove this weekend saw 6 does this morning and a big 6 chasing them right under my stand grunting all the way tried to shoot the buck but a tree limb jumped in front of my arrow lol...........i sure do want another chance but slug hunters will get him next weekend i am sure......

even though I got a buck a couple weeks ago that was working a scrape. I had been out several times since then, usually seeing deer. One time seeing around 10 deer. A big eight and some smaller bucks were next to some does (no chasing). When I bleated the smaller ones took off and the eight followed them. Yesterday had about 6 1/2 hrs on stand. Saw a big buck( 3:05pm)walking (60-70 yrds) away along the timber edge. I grunted he looked, then kept going. Did it again, same thing. Then I bleated after I couldn't see him anymore, That was the last time I did too. He was just walking, no big hurry. Just didn't seemed interested in much of anything, only deer I saw too. As far as chasing does through the woods and around the fields I haven't seen to much of it, as of yet! I did see a nice 6 chasing some fawns around a couple weeks ago in a beanfield, but thats all I have seen so far!

I hunt in Putnam County, the weekend of the 3rd- 4th I saw a lot of chasing, couple of 10 pointers and a small 8 working does, loting of grunting and chasing. Yhis last weekend I did not see anything going on. This is all private property with a limited number of hunters,so its not like they were spooked out. just doesn't seem like it was going on this last wekend.

went out this morning saw 1 single yearling...on my way home had 2 big does being chased by a big buck the ran right infront of my car......he was on them got skunked tonight pouring down rain and windy as heck will try again in the morning.

Very slow. I have been out every day since last thursday. All I have seen so far , are small bucks wondering around. Havent seen a nice buck yet. Even the fields at night seem empty.

southeast iowa is still a bit slow. I had11 does around me total in the last week and no bucks with them. I used some estrous scent and some bucks came to it, but no shooters. I think the bucks are totally ready, but the does arent quite ready yet. Maybe middle of the week, Friday at the latest things will heat up.

I have noticed it to be somewhat slow, have seen some chasing and seeking going on, but mainly borderline shooters and young deer. Still waiting to see the giants surface!
