Default Moon phases??

Ok, do you guys really think that moon phases have an impact on deer movement? I have read articles that say it's a myth. I don't know, the last few days have been slow, no deer sightings at all. Some people are seeing deer, but not like I thought we would here in Va. The rut is now on here and but not heavy yet. Are the mornings supposed to be better on a new moon? Evenings? Or does it seem to matter??

Generally, a full moon means deer won't start moving until later in the evenings and are in bed early in mornings - just because of how much lighter it is. On the flip side. This weekend we can expect deer movement a little earlier in the evenings because of the almost non-existeent moon and see more movement in the morningsa little later.

This is at least what most of the theories state...

I actually think there is alot to the moon phases. You have to understand, though, that the effect is subtle and there are many other things that can impact the movement.

Im in Chesterfield County, we are pretty close. I killed 2 nice buck in one week about 2 weeks ago, and then nothing, one deer sighting since then.

I am a firm believer in this. They are nocturnal animals so why come out in the day if they can see enough during the night? New Moon = Me in the woods everytime. I dont even bother to drive the 3 1/2 hours to the lease if there is a full moon. (I do still sneak off to a place closer to home though..theres always a chance)

When there's a full moon the deer will be out all night long, and bed first thing in the morning then move in the afternoon, then bed in the evening. On a new moon the deer will be moving right at first and last light. When theres a half moon they move after first light and before afternoon, then right before last light. We have a feeder set behind our house that we watch deer. I have cameras on it, and this moon phase thing seems to be the way I wrote.
