Jeff:

Just wanted to say congrats on your deer, he's a great buck!! Sorry I wasn't able to call today when I got mine, no cell reception here and I hopped online real quick to get ahold of someone, and saw the thread about your buck and realized you had your hands full as well. I also have no doubt, he is your "bull" when comparing the pictures.

Congratulations on a fine buck Jeff.

What are you gonna do now?

I bet he has a cousin or brother somewhere ready to move in on his ladies.

I wanted to thank everyone for all the well wishes and congrats. I'm still on cloud nine over the whole ordeal. I appreciate all of you guys more than you know. It's still hard to believe I got it done on such a great animal. I need a new "inspiration", now. I'm sure another will show his face in the coming months.

A HUGE part of my bowhunting season is now in the books.....with a little over a month left to go. I'll probably go back into the woods a lot....but it will be "quite" different. Lots of photos to come.....and maybe another good story will play out. I'll have a visitor hunter or two with me in the coming weeks. Hopefully we'll have something to post.

Again....I'd like to thank all of you guys on the help you've given me this and previous seasons. What I learned from you all led me to that place at that time. He's part "yours". Thanks, again.

Thanks a LOT, GregH. I was kinda hopin you'd notice HIM. My taxi told me the next day that he aged his jawbone at 4.5. Deep down I knew he had to be that old.

He was a worthy adversary....and I'll kinda miss him being out there. I hope I have a similar run with a new buck in the future. Kinda unusual (though I don't have much experience to draw from) to hunt a buck for 3 seasons. I'd love to start a new run, next year.

You're a stats guy, Greg. His neck was 22". Is that any good???

Jeff: Was it a 22" cape, or a 22" form for the mount? Very different measurements........either way, it's a good buck though.Minehad a 21" neck with the cape on, and we ordered a 19" form. My rifle buck from last year had a 21" neck with the cape on as well.

What form did you order for the mount?

You knowMAtt....I have no idea what measurement he was talking about. I know my deer was a 200#'er....and I just heard 22", somewhere in the conversation when Keith called me to talk about the jawbone.

I ordered a "something" -65 form. I can find out what it is.....but he's kinda twisted a little to his right.....and his head is down int he form. I thought that would be a good one....as big as his head was. My taxi agreed.

I have no idea of how it'll turn out......but isn't that half the beauty???

Very cool Jeff, sounds like a sneak mount. I gotta say I'm super anxious to get mine back now too.........I should get it in like February. I get bumped to the front of the line a bit as a favor.....Dan apprenticed with this taxidermist a few years ago so he's a good friend of Dan's and has done something like 5 or 6 animals for Dan's family, plus we donate our capes to this guy every year so he has spares. I got a full aggressive McKenzie formwith the ears laid back and the head down and cocked to the side, he's going the flare the eyes out too. I thought it was fitting with how aggressive he was during the encounter, I don't think I've ever seen a whitetail act quite that aggressive in real life before. I'm awfully excited, and it's going to be a long wait to get him back!
