Why do we call the mateing season the rut for deer?? I was just tinking about this what do you guys think. Doses anyone know?

Because when the bucks get ready to breed they get stuck in a rut finding a doe that will stand for him??????

i would say because you can get out of the rut you dug your self into with the money and time you spent to get in the woods non rut season lol i look forward to the rut more then christmas

In the post modern society with time being crucial it was simply shortend to "Rut"
