Why do we call the mateing season the rut for deer?? I was just tinking about this what do you guys think. Doses anyone know?

i would say because you can get out of the rut you dug your self into with the money and time you spent to get in the woods non rut season lol i look forward to the rut more then christmas

It comes from the latin scooby genre.. Ealry doe at this time of year were heard to say..RUT ROO here comes that Horny Buck.

In the post modern society with time being crucial it was simply shortend to "Rut"
