ahh mabey it was a new hunter. Nervous about his first buck and was a little shaky. He prob moved the bow up to see the shot. And well with any luck mabey natural selection will have its way with you bigtim6656. We all have dreams.

Before we give Jim too much grief he has a point, somewhat. A big factor in whether that deer will heal or not is how warm it is as far as flies and bacteria goes. I know here is PA it has been very warm for the time of year and I would be skeptical as to whether that wouldheal or not. I don't know the weatherin NY so he may heal or he may not. If I thought he would not heal then I would shoot him (in this case he wouldn't be legal for me to shoot in PA, 3 point rule).

Could have been anything. Fence or another buck gets my vote. Doesn't look like a BH cut b/c if you look at it, its not a straight cut.

looks like a broadhead to me.

With all the Rage rage, I'm betting on a Rage 2 blade, lol any takers?

Looks like he pegged you with the camera out, nasty looking wound though. Looks like he could have used some stitches and pain killers.[8D]

Muckland,

Are there any barbwire fences around?? I once watched a doe try to duck under one and tore her back open pretty good...looked alot like that.
