I was hunting monday night, saw 12 different bucks, including spikes, they were chasing does and gently sparring all afternoon.

What ALOt of people don't understand is that just because the bucks are chasing does in South Dakota doesn't mean the bucks in West Virginia and Pennsylvania are chasing and begining the "rut" phase. The does being chased by bucks and the begining of the "rut" happens at different times in different parts of the country. It's all relatively close to the same period of time but might be 2-3 weeks different in certain parts.

I hunt in northern Minnesota, and have seen bucks pursuing does this week. Watchd 2 nice bucks squabbling the other nite in my field, so they are getting ready for the rut around here. Taz

I hear they are chasing in Mid-Michigan. Mainly just youngsters pestering the does, but my dad saw a giant 10 or 12 point bedded with a doe Tuesday night. He actually walked up on them unknowingly and was about to climb into his stand, before they saw him and took off.

I drive 52 miles round trip everyday through some awsome rural farm land and wood lots. The road kill numbers took a huge jump earlier this week. Does, spikes and forks. I believe that speaks for itself. The young horny toads are acting stupid. I haven't seen a any big ones on the side of the road yet but unfortunatly that will happen soon enough. It always does.
