Who has pissed out of their stand?
 

Ok, I liked the thread that PABuck HNTR posted about food in the stand for all day hunts. I was curious myself. You know most of us go crazy about containing our scent, I too wondered if it mattered about food being an issue. I mean most of our favorite snacks are probably foreign to the woods and a deer's nose, but it would be miserable not to eat in a dark to dark sit. This also made me think about something else and raises this question. How many of Guys piss out of there stands? Does that matter? I've done it. I don't like to, but it's happened.Come on guys be honest.



I once herd a guy tell me that he pisses in every srape he finds. I looked at him like he was crazy, but he swore by it. He told me he had buck's check the scrapes right infront of him, the one's he pissed in!!

I took a leak out of my stand last Sat. and had 2differant bucks within 10yrds of me. It doesn't seem to bother them.One was a 10pt that busted meas I turned my headwhen I heard a slight noise at 2:10PM! The seeking phase is on.;)

I have and had two does come with in 20 yards about a half an hour later.

i use a bottle and on my first hunt found something i will not do

i put a little scent killer detergent in the bottel thought it would help kill the scent well 6 hours later on my second or third go it smelled like roten scunk piss or something i do not know if it was the soap piss or the fact it was a washed out milk jug

put no more soap in my bottle

im still working on how to do the other deed from the stand. when the time comes, and it will, i WILL find a way. DEFINENTLY dont stand below MY STAND! i really think the bar across the front of my viper will be key when it comes to dumping from the tree...i really think i can manuver it so i can rest my back on it and let er fly...all saftey precautions taken of course.

the one time i HAD TO GO, i didnt have time to scheme up a way...i climbed most of the way down and jumped and ran off into the darkness lol...didnt wanna do it IN my setup...dug a hole and went and climbed back up. that was a pain...im going to figure out a way to go from above :D

I've done it many times, and I'll do it again. I've also had deer come right in and smell it. Last year I shot a doe that was smelling a scrape I pissed in. It doesn't seem to bother the deer around me, they almost seem curious. Then again, maybe they're just used to my smell b/c I piss outside so much. LOL

Maus, kudos man...how high up are ya? LOL I been there man but most of the aerial drops I have launch have been out of a permanent stand that has a strategic launch pad for such times.

Deer seem curious around me as well. They sniff it, then continue whatever they were doing.

As a matter of fact, lol...my buddy dropped a duece next to my stand one day (he hunted it in the morning, then I went there in the afternoon). I shot an 8 point that evening, while he was literally standing next to it.

I'm guessing it's just like all human scents. If you're in an area where deer don't see/smell people often, they probably more than likely spook..or at least get jumpy. I'm in an area close to many farms with kids playing, I'm close to a huge campground in a woods, and close to a large lake with boaters 9mo out of the year. The deer know human scents in my hunting ground...so I don't fear to whip it out and piss whenever I feel the need.

I have done it once on my very first bow hunt ever and had a doe walk out at about 20 yards and watch me. I tried getting to my bow while still hanging out but she ended up spooking and moving down the road about 100 yards or so. But letting it go from the stand will spook a lot less than having to climb down and back up the stand.

Thats how I check the wind direction

Honetly I have never pee'd in, around, or anywhere near my stand, notsure it would alert deer or not, I just take every precaution I can. But if youre cool with it, let er rip!

My buddy does it all the time and I thought it was wrong until last night. He peed on his tree on our way in and an hour later I watched a nice buck walk right up to the tree he was in and pee on the bottom of it. Male dogs will do it so I guess it makes sense. I am no longer scared, I honestly wished I had to go this afternoon on my way in.

Let er rip....The deer cannot tell it is humane urine. I made a scrape the otherday and peed in it to see if deer would use it and we got a picture of a doe refreshing the scrape i made with my own pee. It was really cool. I believe Mo Bow has the pics since it was his camera.

Last weekend I was hunting in a ground blind. I had to go so I unzipped a window and went right there. Didnt seem to do anything because about 10 minutes later I had a doe walk through 25 yards away from me, then 5 minutes later a 4 point buck walks about 15 yards away from me.

Put my arrow through this little guy the sixth time I saw him... on public land. Did I mention I piss out of all my stands? The fifth time I saw him, he walked right under me -- but it was at dusk and I couldn't see my pins. He stopped directly underneath me, where I had pissed an hour before. He didn't even take an extra sniff.

Pat Curtis, are you sure it is not just the opposite of what you said? If a deer knows that the scent is human, I would think that it is more likely to spook, but if it hasnt smelled humans very often, they would be more curious than anything. I dont know. I piss in a bottle, sucks, but im not sure about the whole pissing while hunting so I risk missing the bottle rather than scaring deer. To each his own.

Sorry about posting this again. I'm pretty new to this site so I was unaware it's already been discused. Thanks for the great stories and advice though, I've been laughing pretty goodat some of the threads, it's funny. I won't feel so guilty if I piss out ofmy stand now. And I take back my thoughts aboutthat crazy man that told me he pissed in scrapes. Not so crazy I guess! Lol.

yea im pretty sure they cant tell the diff. my dad peed on the ground and a little buck startedscraping at it...i think he thought my dad was a bigger buck or something.

There's so many hunters going to the bathroom in the woods where I hunt I think the deer are used to the smell. No worries...just go wee wee.

When i was younger... like 14ish i made a mock scrape in the small woods behind our house and peed in it. No one hunted behind our house becuase the wood lot was only about 40 acres. Well i was walking around int he woods a few days later (like teenage boys do) and i came across the mock scrape that i made. It was TORE UP! I was shocked. I never intended for it to work, and never had the intentions of going back to check it. Just seemed to happen that way.

Oh yea, I pee out of my stand only if my eyeballs are floating and the wind is in my favor.

It's not like deer have witnessed humans taking apee and then went over and smelled the spot and had the thought, "Hey, I now know what human piss smells like." Instead, they will see us walking,recgnize our human form and know what our bodys smell like, such as your body BO. They aren't smart enough to put two and two together to no what our piss smells like.
I pee out of my stands all the time with no ill effects from the deer.

Does not make sense to go thru my routine of scent control and then wizz out of my stand and how do we have ANY idea of what human piss smells like to a deer and whether they make a connection.
I just always feel guilty being "scent" free going in only to drain onto the leaves under my stand. Large mouth Snapple Bottles

I took my uncle hunting quite a few years back and set him up in a spot. Before it was light he takes a leak about 20 yards from his stand. An hour later he kills a nice 8 Point tearing up the spot he pissed in. I don't think it is a problem doing that near your stand however I usually do not.

I do all the time. Has never effected my hunting. I use to do the bottle thing, but found out urine doesnt bother deer. Or from my experience, it hasnt. I have had deer come and make ascrape where ive urinated before. I found that interesting. Might be the testosterone in it, not quite sure, but they did start a bigscrape right where I urinated once. It was either the testosterone, or the fact that my eminations are nothing short of pure gold.:D;)

ive pissed out of my stand before or right before i climb up and it dont seem to bother the deer.

try a portable camping toilet that has a seat on a five gallon bucket or just take a five gallon bucket with you

I've never pee'd from a bow stand. Gun stands yea. It seems like really shouldn't worry about it, as so many of yuo have shown it not to be detrimental,but its just a tough thing to get used to. A buck can tell how close a doe is to estrous from her P, but he can't tellmy P is human? [&:]
