Default I think I want to take a buck now...

I was sitting in my tree tonight and thru the midst of watching a couple deer and thinking about how mnay deer I have truly passed up this year. What amazed me, was the number of bucks I didn't even think about taking. Which alot of it has to do with the new area I have to hunt. It's almost that time of year, where the bucks are comming out to play more often, and being more aggressive. Just like tonight, I hit my True Talker, making it sound like a younger buck. It wasn't 2 minutes later I see a deer materialize out of no where in the middle of the field. Put the bino's on it, sure enough it was a buck. Acting all big and tough, he was a real nice 2.5 year old. I blew the grunt call simulating a young buck a few more times, he worked his way to me, quickly. After determing he wasn't exactly what I was after, I decided to play with him a bit. I blew the young buck a few times at him, waited about 45 seconds and then let out a big DEEP grunt. He absolutely FROZE, tucked his tail, took 2 backpeddling steps and trotted off. I laughed and laughed just watching him try to act all big until someting sounded bigger than him. It's like being in school, getting the dreaded "busy" work. That kinda symbolizes the begining of deer season for me, got a doe under the belt, now I'm focusing HARD on getting my first bow buck. Sorry for being so long, just kinda wanted to ramble a bit.

Well at this new place, we've kinda placed a 8pt or better rule. Just because of the potential. So a shooter for me, will be anywhere from 80" up probably.

Hard to tell in velvet, but I'm basing my opinion solely on if it were on my property. He would probably be borderline when out of velvet. I'd probably shoot him if he came in bow range, being it would be my first bow buck. Now if it were the property behind my house, both would be shot at.
