Time to thin the doe herd
Parts of Central Wi finally got a break from the steady rain yesterday so I figured Id sit for a few hours after work. I get to my stand about 4:15 or so and climb into my ladderstand and sit. Had a small shower move through but stuck it out anyway, glad I did. At about 530 or so I decided to tickle the horns together a bit and hit the grunt tube. Waited and waited. Ended up closing my eyes for about 10 minutes, woke up and look into the corn field and what do I see. DOES!!!!! I counted 24 that I could physically see, there may have been more. One nice doe happend to beaded into clear shot. So I thought. She got so far, looks behind her and turns around and starts heading back the other way. I hit the grun tube, she stops and responds by turning back around and starts coming back. I knew this was going to be a good kill. Well luck would have it, shes right out infront of me, the wind is perfect, blowing right out of the east and blowing right on me, perfect chance, but still no shot op yet, she has to come about 10 feet north yet. Well all of a sudden the wind picks up, she lifts her head, and puts her nose in the air and darts along with the others right behind her. I think to myself "What the heck is that all about, I know she didnt smell me!" There had to be something on the east wind that they didnt like. Oh well, if I cant have my new tires put on today, Im thinking about heading out there again tonight if the rain holds off.

RE: Time to thin the doe herd
You guys must be on private land. Because you see all these does but i hunt public land andi am happy to see 1 doe every other time on the stand. The DNR in wisconsin have this state so screwed up with deer managment because the people with private land can only shoot the amount of deer that they want. But on public land anything that moves is shot. And with all of this earn a buck crap there is hardly any does left to shoot. All public land keeps getting wiped out.
