regardless of whether you hit the lung, liver or gut, that's alot blood, too much just to clot up and quit bleeding all of sudden. I've been in your boots before bud, keep your chin up.Keep looking, I say there's a dead deer nearby.

You said you tracked it through a neighbors backyard? Does he hunt? Would he have taken it on you? Have you talked to him about possibly seeing anything? Just wondering.
I did ask him. No he is not a hunter, actually kind of a jerk, but that is besides the point. He said he did not see anything last night or this morning. He knows I am tracking it behind his yard, and is fine with that. This is the strangest tracking job I have ever been on. Going on 4 hours of sleep. Waiting for some fresh eyes to get here.[&o][&o]These smily's pretty much sum up the way I look lol.

Wow, that's a lot of blood. You have a dead deer. I bet you will find it in a nasty spot where you walked by within 10 yards before. Funny, but when you see the belly it "glows", but when you see it's back it blends in with anything. Deer wear a great camo when they are not moving!
Good Luck.

If he got spooked he will take off like a bat out of hell. I had a deer do this 6 years ago. Found good blood than nothing, I found 1 spot 70 yds away. I just kept walking in that direction on a trail. Found the doe 200 yds later, never saw a drop. When you get help, just start walking the trail you think he went and look.

He will take the easiest path, unless he's super buck[&:]

I agree with you. I am wondering if something jumped him last night during the 5 hours I let him lay. There are dogs within 70 yds. of him. I can imagine if they started barking up a storm he might have buggered out. The problem I am having is that last blood is not in the thick stuff. It is in an area with nothing but dirt and leaves scattered about. There is not really any telltale trail to even walk on. At this point it is like a needle in a haystack, he could have gone 10 different directions.[:@]The sad thing is, I saw this buck Sunday night up in the field I hunt, and went out yesterday to target this specific deer. He was the last deer that I saw last night and this is after passing a big 6 pt. I could have shot about 50 times holding out for this deer. It was about 15 yds. shot quartering away. I should have waited for him to turn more broadside. I hate thinking about killing an awesome buck and him going to waste, makes me sick. Plus he stole my arrow lol.

Find what you think is the easiest path and start walking. It may work or it might not.
