RE: Deer hit, tracking suggestions. Update, NOT GOOD With pics of blood trail

Super G. I have combed the area around my stand. No luck. BTW the arrow is still in the deer. I have not found any of it, and it was buried to the fletchings.

Go back and find the blood. If he is leaving spots the size of baseballs and your hand then you are missing it because it's there. What you have to find is the small stuff that ties the big spots together. It may just be drops so you have to look HARD.

Find the blood and back track a bit and then put toilet paper on limbs to mark his path.........step back and look along the paper trail and it will give you a good idea what direction he is going. Be careful where you walk because you might be covering up what you are looking for.
What he said, I have found deer for my dad using this exact approach.

Thx for good advice Atlas

Shane,

I had a very similar situation to you about a week ago. I hit the deer at dark and knew it was a gutshot, with the arrow in it. No blood to be found. Waited for six hours. After crossing a field and guessing where it went in the woods, we found a few small drops 10 yards apart to guide us, as well as a gutty arrow. Ended up jumping it even after waiting six hours. Watched where it went with the spotlight and backed out again. In the morning, to my surprise, it was not there. I ultimately found it that evening. I was amazed, but it had managed to move another hundred yards away, and in thick stuff, that can be a big obstacle. Try expanding your search a bit if possible. Also, look for the small blood drops like was said. Even just two pin-head sized drops five yards between them can give you all the help in the world by showing a direction.

Best of luck. When you said WC did you mean west central pennsylvania or west chester, PA?

Try going to the las spot you found blood and make circles first 10 yards then 20 so on and so on this is how we found a deer alast yearthat I hit a little far back. The way we figure it probally got to a certain point then just ran.It was only about 45 yards from where we last found blood. No doubt this deer is dead if there is as much blood and as you are finding. Good Luck!!!

Last one. These should give you guys an idea of the blood. These are just a few pics. There were a few other areas like this, as well as many drops the size of silver dollars. Waiting for a few buddies. I am sick over this.

Being the blood is blobbed together I am guess you did not get any lung. I am just guessing, but I am going to say

Guts and Liver hit

You said you tracked it through a neighbors backyard? Does he hunt? Would he have taken it on you? Have you talked to him about possibly seeing anything? Just wondering.
