Default One of us is a slow learner

I do a lot of lurking here , but not a lot of posting BUT I figured you guys could use a good laugh

Last night I headed out to a stand next to a bunch of White Oaks
It was over cast and a little windy
But the wind was causing the acorns to drop

I soon see 3 or 4 does feeding out of range , so I figure that is a good sign

About 5 PM I see a nice buck feeding to me
When he enterd a shooting lane 30 yds away I released
(&&(%%@** the arrow hit a unseen limb and hit the ground 20' short of the buck
He runs into a thicker patch50 yds farther away
I see him milling around , then he goes back to feeding
He feeds back to me and enters the shooting lane at almost exactly the same place

I take what looks to be a perfict shot
But the arrow hits a unseen limb and lands within 2' of the first arrow
I know I cleared the lane not 3 weeks ago and there shouldn't be anything I could be hitting

Now I am major pissed off
But not 5 min later here comes the buck again
As he enters the shooting lane , he makes a right hand turn and walks right at me

He walks up to the arrows and sniffs them and goes back to feeding
2 steps later I release arrow #3
Well this shot is perfict
But on impact there was more of a "Wack" sound than normal

Later found out the Muzzy MX-4 had punched thru the off shoulder blade after trashing both lungs

As he turned to run I saw the arrow sticking out the off side

I heard him pile up after 70 or 80 yds

While I was waiting to make sure he was dead
I got down andpicked upmy arrows in the ground
I looked up
Every time a gust came thru
A small tree swayed and a 1/2" dia limb lowered a foot or so
The limb had 2 notchs in it from my broad heads ( I went back today and trimed that limb)

I got on the cell phone to see if my 10 year old nefue wanted to help find the buck
He had a freind over so my sister in law brought both of them over to my truck
I walked out to lead them in
As she pulled up my brother finished working the feild and stoped to see what was going on
So all 5 of us went in and tracked the deer
The 2 - 10 year old boys followed the blood trail with out any help

They held the flash lights as I feild dressed the buck

It had run away from the lane
So instead of dragging it thru the woods
My brother drove the tractor thru the harvisted bean feil right up to the edge of the woods
So we could lay the buck on the equipment on the back
Total drag was 50 yards instead of 1/2 mile thru the woods

Nothing like using a $250,000 tractor as a deer buggy LOL

Not a real big rack
Only a 7 point without much mass
But he weighs 140 lb feild dressed
The wound you see is the exit wound

Around my house , we have some large bucks, but they only grow small racks
My guess a genetics thing

John
