This is just a question,if youjust started bowhunting andcame across a dow with a fawn twenty yards from your stand would you shoot thedoe or let it go. This situation just happened this weekendd.

This late in the year go ahead and smoke the doe! The fawn wil most likely fend for itself now! Especially for being your first deer, its nice to get one under your belt! Good Luck!!

Put the doe on the ground. If the fawn is a button, he will likely not vacate his home range and with as few years and some luck he will be the shooter that you will be looking for by then.

go ahead and take the doe if you feel comfortable. season start and end dates are set up and based upon the birthing and weaning times of fawns.most will be fine at this time of year.

I saw two small does and a fawn that couldn't have been more than 25lbs yesterday out of range. I also saw them this morning, about 20ft behind my stand. I didn't even see or hear them come in until one dug into the pine needles for food. I had a five minue stare off with the doe, she knew something wasn't right. I blinked, she blew and they were gone. Theystopped still in bow range but behind some trees and then left. I know her and I know what she looks like. She's getting the stick next time she's close enough.

If it was only a single fawn i would let the does go. She is most likely a younger doe and if she can survive the rifle season will have a better chance of having twins next season. but thats just me
