RE: bowhunt during firearm season?
Nope, put myself at that disadvantage, my main goal in huning is to harvest a deer as ethically as possible. If gun season is in i am using my shotgun. But I enjoy bow season more, less hunters and i really enjoy the callenge.

Nope, Bowhunting is not allowed during the firearms seasons in IL. So I simply use those 7 days(3 days for gun season and 4 days second gun season)to rest up and let the orange army have their fun. After the orange army is out of the woods I am right back in there with my bow.

I use my bow until the last two weeks or so of the 'general season'. In Texas, you can deer hunt with a rifle, bow, shotgun, or any legal firearm for the month of November and December. There is a bow season only for the month of October. I enjoy the challange and the up-close and personal expierence that bow hunting deer brings and even though the deer are a lot more skitish during the 'general season', I still bow hunt 90% of the time.
