People who own them sure seem to like them. Long list of features that you usually only find on more expensive bows. For under 400 bucks that's hard to beat. Try Pearson and Fred Bear too. Shoot a buch and then decide.

In the Sept issue of ArrowTrade magazine there is an article on Efficiency, Speed, Noise, & Vibration. The Martin Bengal was rated #1, with the Bear Instinct a close #2for the money. I would do like gzg38b said and at least try the2 of them and see which one you like the best! For those interested the BowTech's Gardian rated #1 overall.
The tests were done by Archery Evolution.

Thanks for the replys. I just found the forum yesterday. Must have been some kind of good karma. Last night I shot my first deer for the year. It was a nice easy 15 yard shot from a treestand. Nothing like some meat in the cooler!

I think I will go for the Bengal after this year when they go on closeout sale. Maybe I can find a Basspro coupon and even save some more money off their Bengal package of $500. I am thinking of getting a "package bow" since I don't know enough to pick out my own site, arrow rest etc etc etc.

Man that was a nice feeling last night, letting that arrow go and knowing you put her down.

Congrats on the deer, and good luck getting a deal on a new bow.

PSE and Diamond also have good offerings in that price range. My advice would be to shoot as many different bows as you can and then make the decision. The new 2008 Diamond Marquis is rumored to have a $399 MSRP.
