Nothing "wrong" with the limbs, a set of barnsdale would just trick it up a notch IMHO. And you are correct, the Tomcat is one great hunting bow and never gets the recognition it deserves.

Of the 4 bowtechs I've owned the only issue I've had to have addressed was the limbs.

Hmm, the Tomcat can pull off a 315 but the General is as low as 308 (yawn) ?

Ok enough pot stirring here, I'm headed out the door to see if my Tribby can draw some blood......

IBO on the General is pretty much exactly the same as the TomKat @ 307-315 with speed mods and 300-308 with smooth mods.

I hope you did well onyour hunt, I hope to put an A/C/C though one with my General next week when I'm hunting with the guys from Rocky Boots and some of the PBR cowboys...

Having a Great Bow line is more about having a variety in types of bows, not necessarily all Speed burners. I don't think you can call any of the Bowtechs slow even by todays standards, but some are faster than othersWith the lineup Bowtech has now including the Diamond bows they have something for everyone, single cams, binary cams, price, speed, smooth,Fast, etc. Thats what having a Great/Complete line is all about

With a 31" a-a,it better have a brace over 8" to be able to shoot the darn thing.

That is the main reason to give up a little speed for brace.

I wished they made this offering in a 36" bow with a brace around the 7 3/4 to 8" brace with a flat grip, then they would have the best hunting bow on the market,IMO,as long as they put the barnsdale limbs on it.[8D]

The Commander is close but I still think Hoyt has a little better offerings.

All Kidding aside! If want a Smooth Bow, Fast Bow, Economical Bow, Forgiving Bow, Quiet Bowand/or anything inbetween Bowtech/Diamond can fill the bill and fill it rather nicely. What else can you ask from a company's Bow Line

Just shot the General, along with the Guardian, XT, and Dren...

Thoughts -

1) Just getting back into bow hunting after ~ 12 years, so I was amazed at the crisp, quiet, fast feel of all of the bows. Technology has come a million miles since my roughly 1992 Hoyt. And the speeds at 65 lbs seemed far superior to my old Hoyt at ~75-80 lbs - granted I used aluminum back in the day and used carbon today, but still...damn.
2) All four were fantastic, couldn't go wrong with any of them.
3) Mathews seemed to be a little smoother on the draw - no real 'peak' where a little extra oomph is needed. The XT seemed to be a little better than the Dren as far as smoothness.
4) The Gaurdian had that peak later in the draw, closer to full draw. The General had the peak draw early on.

Overall, I liked the General the best - I like the draw curve, and when it fires, there is very little noise or shock - the smoothest in that dept IMO. Very little commotion going on when it is released.

I'll be adding a General to the household soon - just have to see how long it will take to get a lefty from the factory. Also need to figure out what rests, sights, etc, I want to add to it. Thinking about the QAD Pro HD and probably G5. Can't wait!Tom
