I have no comment Re broadheads. It does sound like you went right after the deer which is a HUGE no-no. Please read the thread at the top of the page about tracking deer. You would most likely be posting pics of a successful hunt if you had. Gut shots need to wait 8 hrs.
Also ifthe deer ducked a foot, and you hit far back in the guts, where were you aiming? Did it start turning as well?

Heard it open in flight?
I shoot this head, now. I don't see them opening in flight (even without the band), but I also use a Bohning quiver that doesn't emply foam in the holder.

I've shot Muzzy's since I first started bowhunting...and recently thought aboutgetting some of these mechanical heads...I looked at the RAGE and I am not hearing good things about them. So I may just stick with what has worked for years. But theTekan II look pretty cool....any input on these from you guys?
