Default String Whiskers...

Well afterseeing BigJ71's post on mathews and his proshop I decided to make my own. It's not related to mathews at all, but more along the lines of the proshop in general. For years I've shot the whiskers as my primary choice of silencers. I bought a new bow last year that already had the leeches installed. After shooting it several times I was less than impressed with the dampening on my bow. I decided to go to my local prop shop to have whiskers installed. This shop is ran by a guy and his son. I went there, the son (owner/tech) wasn't there and I explained to the father that i wanted the whiskers and why I wanted them. From the time I walked in the door he pretty much tried to talk me outta them. Basically how the guy didn't like to install them because of the "pre-cut" design that they had come out with made em more cult to install. Being an archer for about 10 years, I stuck with my decision and waited on the guy to come back from lunch.
After about 40 minutes the guy returns, his dad explains the situation to him, he knods in acknowledment and installs the whiskers. After about 2 day the bottom set starts to come loose and eventually falls completely out. After, I realize that the guy simply served them onto the string and notIN the stringas I normally had them installed by previous shops. Tonight, the night before season, I went to walmart and bought a set of the whiskers and simply tied them on my bow.I gotta say that my bow in more quiet than ever. It kinda angers me as it seems like the owner simply served them onto the string to get me outta the shop and to "prove a point" that the whiskers weren't as good as the leeches simply because he didn't wanna install them. The bad part, it's pretty much the only shop around. I gotta say that next year, I'll have a bow press to do my own work instead of relying on a less than enthusiatic proshop owner.

I as well use whiskers. I have had them done both ways, through the string and around the string. I prefer around the string. They might not last as long this way but, they are cheap. I can move them up and down to find the quiet spot. And can replace them in a couple seconds.

I always just tie my wiskers to the string and have really good luck. Like Bullrider115 said you can move them where you want. If they are served they are staying where they are. I have not had any problem with mine coming off or moving. IMO..
